    Hey all! Reunion weekend was lots of fun. It was great to see familiar faces and reminisce on our times at Hood. Here is what we are up to!

    Emily Singleton Dimeler and her husband, Josh, are expecting their baby girl in November 2019. Olivia Sledzik is getting married in September in Narragansett, RI. She and her fiancé bought a 104 year old home in Warwick, RI and are having a blast restoring it. Chelsea Young moved to North Carolina recently and got married.  She started coaching CrossFit along with nutrition and personal programming for her full-time job. Bianca Padilla is a 5th grade science, social studies, and writing teacher in Montgomery County, Maryland. She continues to certify people to become MixxedFit instructors at her trainings as a National Trainer. Kate Kopasek Black graduated from Notre Dame of Maryland University in May with her Master of Nonprofit Management degree. Kate and her husband just bought and moved into their first home in early July. Emily Kraatz Adesina married the love of her life, Segun Adesina, in July 2018. She completed her masters degree in Education Leadership at Hood College in May 2019. She taught for 5 years with Frederick County Public Schools and came back to the Hood to work as the director of the Lab School preschool program. Have a wonderful summer Class of 2014!!

    Looks like we have been doing well Hood College Class of 2014! Here are some amazing updates from our classmates. Zach Lynch is a trooper for the Maryland state police. He and Kelsey Knippenberg are expecting a baby, Eli, in February 2018. Mercedes Barbosa is Graduating in May 2019 from the University of Maryland with a Master’s of Education in Special Education with a Severe Autism Certificate. She is engaged to Nick Paolino of Baltimore, MD. Amanda Cavanagh is pursuing a career in voice acting and music. She is a soprano for the Washington Metropolitan Gamer Symphony Orchestra and currently working on her first audiobook titled, “Ultra” by Olivia Hill. Amanda Lynn Garner got married on October 27, 2018 to Stephen Garner, admission counselor at Hood College. She also started a new job as a bereavement coordinator at Hospice of Frederick County. Steven Powell is a PhD student at Oklahoma State University studying school psychology. He also works as a consultant for rural schools. Bianca Padilla is a 5th grade math teacher in Montgomery County, Maryland. She recently became a National Trainer for the dance fitness company called, MixxedFit. Tabitha Browne Milliken got a new job as a Research Assistant with Geisinger Medical Center. Nicholas Duafala obtained his Master of Science in Finance from The George Washington University and is currently an Equity Research Analyst covering Oil and Gas E&P’s. Nicholas has since moved to Arlington, VA with his girlfriend, Ashlea, and two frenchies, Grizzly and Honey. Lacey Creelman completed her Master’s in Special Education from Walden University in April 2018. She started classes in October to complete her Administrator 1 Certificate from McDaniel College. Katie Jenkins Hansrote started a new job this past June with Cumberland County Aging and Community Services. She is still working with Older Adult Protective Services. Also, Katie and her husband will be welcoming their second baby girl in April 2019. Olivia Sledzik is currently living in Rhode Island and working at Providence Performing Arts Center. She got engaged in June in Rome. The wedding is September 2019. Jackie Frenning and her wife, Tabitha, bought a house in South Portland, Maine. Megan Gregory got a new job as a Public Relations and Marketing Manager at Veterinary Orthopedic Sports Medicine Group. She is getting married in Summer 2019. Amelia Lovelace is a PhD candidate at the University of Georgia studying Plant Pathology. She has published two papers on her research in Molecular Plant Microbe Interactions Journal and has presented her work at various conferences including American Phytopathological Society and International Congress of Plant Pathology. Ashley-Rose Bennett continues to work for the The Student Homelessness Initiative Partnership (SHIP) of Frederick County, and started an MBA program this past fall. Chad Love was accepted into the School of Dentistry at West Virginia University and will be graduating with the Class of 2022. Wishing everyone a fantastic 2019. Don’t forget that reunion weekend is June 7, 8, and 9. Hope to see everyone at our five year reunion.

    Hello Class of 2014! It is hard to believe that it is already the end of 2017. We’ve been out of the “Hood” for 3 years now. Let’s catch up with some members of the Class of 2014. Melissa Caples Miller started a new job as the Curator of Collections at the Customs House Museum in Clarksville, TN. Jennifer Bentz Crumpacker got married in October. Olivia Sledzik and her boyfriend moved to Rhode Island at the beginning of November and are looking forward to exploring New England. Amanda Price graduated with her Masters of Social Work in May. She started working as a social worker at Hospice of Washington County in July. Kate Kopasek Black married John Black on September 23, 2017 at her home parish of St. Michael the Archangel in Baltimore. She is also halfway through her Masters of Nonprofit Management program at Notre Dame of Maryland University. Molly Seel and Matt Burdick got married this summer! Steve Powell graduated with his Educational Specialist degree in school psychology from James Madison University and is now working on a Ph.D in educational psychology at Oklahoma State University. He is teaching undergraduate development courses and working with student-athletes at OSU. Madeline Birmingham got married to Bronson Washburn on June 23, 2017 at Deep Creek Lake in Western Maryland surrounded by Hood Alums from the classes of 2013, 2014, 2015 and her dad, fellow Hood alum, Michael Birmingham ’86! Jaclyn Frenning moved to Portland, ME and got a new job as a Student Financial Services Specialist at the University of New England. Paige DeVore got married in October. Denise Stull is engaged to Jeffrey Berger. She is a special education teacher at Rock Creek School at FCPS. Bianca Padilla finished her Masters degree in August. She is still a fifth grade teacher in Montgomery County, Maryland. She enjoys being a MixxedFit and Zumba instructor when she is not teaching. Angela Shaner Dwyer got married on June 24, 2017. Her and her husband are thrilled to announce that they are expecting and are due in April 2018. We hope to hear from more members in the New Year! Cheers to new beginnings and journeys in 2018!

    It’s time to see what the members of the Class of 2014 are up to! Paige DeVore graduated nursing school. She is taking the NCLEX on June 13 and will be getting married October 13.  Katelyn Jenkins and her husband Andrew welcomed a baby girl Leona Leigh Hansorte on February 24, 2017. William Haller completed his M.S. in Applied Psychology, Industrial-Organizational track from the University of Baltimore in December 2016. Will currently works at FMP Consulting in Arlington, Virginia. Lauren Shaak is very excited to accept a Park Ranger position this spring at Caledonia State Park in Fayetteville, PA. Charles Kramer is pursuing his masters in social work in the fall of 2017 at West Chester University. Erin Droneburg started her own business, Chalkedelic, LLC. This September, Erin and her husband Javier Zavala ’16 will be leaving for 6 months to travel the U.S. out of a camper and pursue their arts. Tiffany Zechman Flook welcomed her second child on March 29, 2017. Kali Ball is married and expecting a baby boy in August. Zachary Lynch is graduating from Maryland State Trooper Academy in July 2017.This past December, Brittany Davis got engaged to Brian Semkiw. They will be getting married in June 2018. Laura Morton is moving to London, England and starting a master’s program in Modern History at King’s College London this fall. Angela Shaner is getting married to Zachary Dwyer on June 24, 2017. They are very excited to start their lives together. She’s also finishing her third year of teaching 2nd at New Market Elementary School. Angela is working on getting her Master’s Degree in Curriculum Instruction at Hood College. Emily Singleton married Joshua Dimeler on September 24, 2016.  In October of 2016, she began a new position as a Grant and Contract Specialist at UMBC. Emily and Josh bought their first home in March 2017. Steven Powell just graduated with his Ed.S in school psychology. He is moving to Oklahoma State University this fall to start his Ph.D in school psychology. Sydnee Sichert is currently employed with Frederick County Government as an Executive Assistant. Molly Fabricatore graduated from Salem State University with her Master of Education in Higher Education Student Affairs. She accepted a position at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, CA as a Coordinator of Student Development. Jennifer Bentz had a baby in March and got promoted to team leader at work. Bianca Padilla is finishing her master’s program in August 2017 from National University. Lanee Higgins married Davon Ford on April 11, 2017 in Tokyo, Japan. Chelsea Young works as a Marketing Coordinator at United Iron and Metal. She Started a meal prep company – MOD Nutrition and lives in Columbia, Maryland. Keep doing your thing Class of 2014! Have a fabulous summer!

    Hello, Class of 2014! Looks like we have continued to stay busy after graduation. Let’s see what everyone has been up to! Katelyn Jenkins Hansrote got married April 23 to Andrew Hansrote, and they are expecting a baby girl in February. Paige DeVore got engaged July 4, Melissa Caples married Greg Miller on Oct. 8, and Zach Lynch and Kelsey Knippenberg got married Sept. 24, 2016. Jackie Frenning got married in December 2015. Kali Ball is engaged. Kate Kopasek got engaged to John Black in Annapolis on Aug.13, 2016, and they are getting married September 2017 in Baltimore. Madeline Birmingham got engaged in October to Bronson Washburn and plans to get married summer 2017. They bought a house in Frederick this past June and are living there with their English Bulldog, Lucy. David Langan got engaged to Natalie Hernandez ’15. Jennifer Bentz got engaged in March, and she and her fiance are looking forward to welcoming their first child in March. Tiffany Zechman Flook bought a house and is expecting her second child in May. Erin Droneburg married Javier Zavala ’16 on August 27, 2016. Katelyn Jenkins Hansrote graduated with her master’s degree in social work in May from Shippensburg University. She is currently working as an older adult protective service worker at the Perry County Area Agency on Aging in Pennsylvania. Kali Ball is an intervention teacher at Salem Avenue Elementary Hagerstown, and Jackie Frenning started her MS in academic advising from Kansas State University. Kate Kopasek started working on her Master of Nonprofit Management degree at Notre Dame of Maryland University in August. She is currently working at Key Point as the case manager for Catonsville’s Community Outreach Program. Steven Powell is completing his Ed.S. degree. He is a school psychologist intern at Halifax County Public Schools in Halifax, VA. Kylee Loss is currently working with Building Evaluation Services and Technology as an environmental analyst, Jolissa Gue teaches kindergarten for FCPS, and I, Bianca Padilla am a fifth grade teacher in Montgomery County and will graduate with a master’s in teaching with National Board Certified Teacher Leadership in August 2017. Justin Bowens works as a program cost and schedule analyst for Northrop Grumman in San Diego, CA. Anela Alic is living in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and is working for Emirates airline as part of the business class cabin crew. Emily Kraatz is a first grade teacher and STEM education leader at Twin Ridge Elementary School in FCPS. She is persuing a master’s in educational leadership from Hood College. Tiffany Zechman Flook is teaching kindergarten in Frederick County. Molly Fabricatore will graduate from Salem State University with her M.Ed. in higher education student affairs this May. She is working as an area coordinator at Hood College for Shriner, Coblentz and the Marx Center. Katrina Villa recently graduated with a Master of Science in Nursing from Seton Hall University and now resides in New York. She recently began work as a registered nurse in the neurosurgical critical care unit at the Mount Sinai Hospital. Until next time, Class of 2014! Wishing you all a wonderful 2017!

    Hello Class of 2014! Here are some awesome updates from our classmates. We continue to celebrate many accomplishments!

    Kate Kopasek  is a Case Manager at Key Point Health Services, a nonprofit mental health agency. She is preparing to the take the CPRP exam to become a Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner. She also volunteers at the Maryland ASPCA. Lindsey Pallansch finished her second year of teaching as a 2nd grade teacher at Centerville Elementary School; Nicholas Duafala  works at Guggenheim Investments as an Investment Valuation Analyst; and Steven Powell was hired as a School Psychologist Intern in Halifax County Public Schools in Virginia.Tabitha  (Browne) Milliken is a Full Time Unit Assistant in the ED at Evangelical Community Hospital in Lewisburg,PA; Melissa Johnson is working as a Forensic Chemist at NMS Labs in Willow Grove, PA; and Emily Lovelace has been working  as a sea turtle research intern for the past 6 months for Cape Eleuthera Institute on the island of Eleuthera, The Bahamas.Tyree Wilson is currently working at Prometic Biotherapeutics in Rockville,MD; Justin Bowens is working at Northrop Grumman Internal Audit; and I, Bianca Padilla finished my second year of teaching. Rachel Gannon finished her first year working as a Middle School Science teacher and will be the Assistant Athletic Director at The Visitation Academy; Brittni Souder is a board member for a non-profit called Pink Concussions and is an assistant women’s soccer coach at Frederick Community College; and Angela Shaner finished her second year teaching for Frederick County Public Schools.

    Congratulations to Tabitha Browne who bought a house with her husband in Beavertown, PA; Angela Shaner  who got engaged to Zach Dwyer in October; and Jackie Wenzel who married Samuel Barrett on June 18!

    We continue our education in a variety of institutions. Marquita Monroe is currently enrolled in her pre-reqs for nursing school at George Washington University; David Langan will be pursuing his Ph.D in Molecular Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Maryland Baltimore; and Tyree Wilson will be attending the University of Maryland Baltimore to seek his Ph.D in Pharmaceutical sciences in August. Justin Bowens is pursuing his International MBA; Rachel Gannon was accepted into the Master’s of Science program in Bioinformatics at John Hopkins University; and I, Bianca Padilla am pursuing a Master’s in Teaching with NBC Teacher Leadership at National University. Angela Shaner is pursuing her Master’s in Curriculum Instruction at Hood College; Melissa Johnson graduated in May 2016 where she obtained a Master’s of Science in Forensic Science from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU); and Nicholas Duafala  attends George Washington University to pursue a master’s in Finance. Lindsey Pallansch finished her first year of graduate school at Hood for her Master’s in Reading Specialization; and Brittni Souder will be starting graduate school at California University of Pennsylvania where she will be getting her Master’s in Exercise Science and Health Promotions with a dual concentration in Performance Enhancement and Injury Prevention and Sport Psychology. Melissa Caples graduated from George Washington University with her master’s degree in Museum Studies; and Steven Powell continues to pursue his Ed.S at James Madison University.

Tiffany Zechman Flook welcomed her first child, Ava, in December 2014 and teaches kindergarten at Liberty Elementary School in Frederick County. Jackie Frenning has a new job as an Academic Testing Associate at Frederick Community College. Lauren Shaak is the Tree Fruit Extension Entomology Research Technician at the Penn State Fruit Research and Extension Center in Biglerville, Pennsylvania. Emily Singleton has been working since November 2014 as a Grants Administrator for the Maryland Energy Administration. Kate Kopasek is an Outreach Rehabilitation Counselor at Key Point Health Services. Bianca Padilla is in her second year of teaching as a fifth grade teacher in Montgomery County. Christine Carter Cohee works for W.L. Gore as a Lab Technician. James Thuman works as a data scientist for Booz Allen Hamilton. Will Haller works at Schaefer Center for Public Policy, Envolve. Olivia Sledzik is working at the White House Historical Association in DC as an editorial specialist. Nathaniel Erb has kept busy with his involvement in social justice. Since his cross-country cycling trip with human trafficking advocacy group, Worthwhile: GO, he continues to be involved with human trafficking policy, youth leadership, and global social justice initiatives. He recently authored the first law in the United States to open college access to human trafficking victims. Melissa Caples works as a part-time contract as a conservation technician at the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Brianna Dyckman was accepted into the Americorps NCCC program for the Atlantic Region where she will start in February 2016. Kierianne Lupari is a 3rd grade teacher in Fairfax County. Amanda Price is currently at an internship at the BirthPlace at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Denisse Guitarra is working at Alizee Pathology as a Laboratory Specialist. Lauren Engel is in the Applied Behavior Analysis Master’s program at Ball state university. Will Haller is a Psychology major and attends the University of Baltimore for Industrial/Organizational Psychology for Graduate school. Melissa Caples is attending George Washington University to obtain a Master’s in Museum Studies; and Amy Hagerdon has a Master’s of Public Affairs and a Master’s of Science in Environmental Science from Indiana University. Katie Jenkins will graduate from Shippensburg University with her Master’s Degree in Social Work in May 2016. Patrick Harrington is the assistant market center administrator for Keller Williams Premier Properties Summit/Westfield in New Jersey; Erin Droneburg is a marketing and communications associate at Yoga Alliance for Yoga Insider; Anela Alic is living in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and is working for UAE airlines; and Jessica Stonesifer is the owner of Regal Event Rentals. Jacquelyn Wenzel is teaching third grade in Fairfax County; Amelia Lovelace is a research assistant at the Navy Experimental Diving Unit in Panama City, Fla.; and Matt Dyjack, Jr. is working as the student activities coordinator at Hood College. Maria Gaetskaya is a Koch Fellow at the Cato Institute, Amanda Cavanagh is working for the Way Station as a residential facilitator in Frederick, Md.; and Amanda Walloga is the social media specialist for LINK. Chelsea Young is the marketing director at Colonial Jewelers in downtown Frederick; Melissa Caples is an objects conservation technician at the Smithsonian American Art Museum; and Emily Kraatz is teaching first grade at Twin Ridge Elementary School. Denisse Guitarra Yangua is the manufacturing production technician I at MedImmune/AstraZeneca in Frederick; Meghan Burket is working at Platinum PR in Shepherdstown; and Lacey Creelman is a special education teacher in Charles County. Emily Lovelace is an intern with the Third Millennium Alliance; Paige DeVore is currently working in her field in which she obtained her degree at two different companies; and Megan Gregory is a relationship associate working for United Way of Central Maryland. Jennifer Bentz is a research assistant for Michigan State Univ. School of Criminal Justice and a police cadet for the Meridian Township Police Department; Mercedes Barbosa is teaching a fourth grade Asperger’s classroom at Sligo Creek Elementary School; and Madeline Birmingham is a second grade teacher with Frederick County Public Schools. Nate Pauley is the quality control associate for Auntie Anne’s Pretzel factory in Lancaster, Pa.; Mitch Ellison is working at a job in his field of Biology at the USDA; and Chrissi Arnold is working for one of the biggest ophthalmology practices in the states. Kaitlyn Hays returned from Costa Rica after participating in the Tambor Bay Project thanks to the generosity of Hood Alumna, Ruth Ravitz Smith ’83, and is working at Morgan Stanley in Baltimore as a recruiting coordinator; Ashley Bennett is working and volunteering with the National Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children (CASA) program; Lauren Shaak is a research technician in the Entomology Lab at the Pennsylvania State Univ. Fruit Research Extension Center; and Jennifer Rutherford is working for Frederick County in special education. Marquita Monroe is working at Shared Solution Services; Stacey Axler is the social media and website coordinator of a real estate management company; and I, Bianca Padilla, am a fifth grade teacher at Gaithersburg Elementary School.
