    The Class of 2004 wishes the falling new mothers and their newborns many good years of health, love and happiness: Cara Overcash Orr and her husband welcomed Karson Levi February 14, 2016. He joins big brother Conner in their Philadelphia home.  Michelle Donati-Grayman, along with her wife and twin sons, welcomed Silas Donati-Grayman on November 8, 2016. Essence Jones, M.A. ’07, C ’07 and her family welcomed son Brocke Harold Douglas Jones on March 18, 2017. Laurie Machovec Tomcanin and her husband welcomed twin boys, James Edward and John Daniel, on June 3, 2017.  Congratulations to the following class members on their new positions: Chanda Gilmore accepted a position as assistant professor of communications at Immaculata University in August 2016.   Sarah Cline was selected for a two-year fellowship with the American Bar Association Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law’s in August 2016. Jaime Cacciola was appointed Director of Grants and Gift Planning at Hood College in January 2017.  Wendy Cochran is the Food Program Manager at the Frederick County Health Department, with 2017 marking her 10-year anniversary working for the State of Maryland. She is engaged to Gregory MacMaster.  Katherine Nash M.B.A. ’08 now works as Policy Director for Greenwill and Associates where she is serves as a Maryland lobbyist for clients ranging from large multinational energy corporations to small towns in Western Maryland. Best wishes to the following class members on their new accomplishments:  Michelle Lindsey Richardson was named 2015-16 Teacher of the Year and is currently working on her M.A. with a concentration in literacy at Furman University and is a full-time Literacy Coach at a SC public school.  She and her family moved to South Carolina in 2006.   Maya Laws Barney and her family purchased their first home in October 2016.  Sara Lewis and her family relocated back to the Baltimore area after 8 years in New Jersey in December 2016.  Melanie Muscar M.B.A. ’07 married Christiana “Ana” Lang on December 23, 2016. They sold their home in downtown Frederick and are moving to Uppsala, Sweden in August while Ana serves as a Rotary International Peace Fellow for two years. They are, of course, taking their collie mix, Cooper, with them.

    Class of 2004 has been very active again, from new babies to new jobs.  Congratuations to all of us! Congrats to Maya Laws Barney and her husband, Justin, on the birth of their first child, Jasmine Marie, born on June 16, 2016. Congrats to Sara Lewis and her husband on the birth of their third child, Lila Catherine, on April 17, 2016.  Lila joins big brothers Grant and Eamon.  Congrats to Melissa Janovic Dasch M.A.’10 and Thomas E. Dasch, Jr. on the birth of their third child, Tolan Robert, on September 6, 2015. Congrats to Cara Overcash Orr and her husband, Jonathan, on the birth of their second son, Karson Levi, on February 14, 2016.  Cara continues to practice family medicine as a Physician Assistant and accepted a position with Temple Physicians, Inc. in February 2015. Lauren Davies Rosario and her husband, J. Tito, welcomed son Kieran in November 2015. Fellow 2004 alum Jessica Lertora Sweeney is his godmother. Lauren was promoted to Marketing Manager at Psychological Assessment Resources (PAR), a publisher of tests for school psychologists, counselors, and neuropsychologists. Phil Dahlheimer and his wife celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary and their daughter just turned 3.  Sherri Moser took a job as clinical psychologist in primary care at the Orlando VA Medical Center and relocated to Orlando at the end of November 2015. Beatrice McClearn Glenn and her husband sold their first house and purchased their second house in August 2015. Mary Hope Rottman Shaw remarried in November 2014 and relocated to Wales, England on May 20, 2016 where she start a new life and career there as a web design specialist. According to Mary, her “ECE degree from Hood, though not in the same field, really comes in handy when I am writing up style plans for clients. My managers say I am excellent client-side.” Sarrah Kiermayr Yoder was promoted to the Therapy Team Lead of the Speech Therapy department at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Colorado Springs where she has worked for the past 7 years. Wendy Cochran Taylor has been with the Frederick County Health Department for over 9 years and has been the Program Manager of the Food Program within the Environmental Health Services Division for over 5 years now.

    It has been a busy year for the class of 2004 with many births and job opportunities. Erin Bernard married Ralph Rogers on August 31. One of the five people in attendance was Victoria Campbell Locane, M.A.’09, C’05, who officiated the ceremony. The couple welcomed son Rex Jameson Rogers on Dec. 9, 2014 and currently reside in Providence, R.I.  Congratulations to Sally Downing Taylor and her husband Iain and little sister Kaitlynd Rose on the birth of Jonathan Taylor on August 13, 2014. Congratulations also to Michelle Donati-Grayman and her wife on the birth of their twin boys, Moses and Elias, in September 2014.  Michelle was recently promoted to communication manager at AAA Arizona and received the 2014 Volunteer of the Year award from the 161st Air Refueling Wing. Jessica Lertora married Jason Sweeney on April 12, 2013 in Pasadena, Md., and welcomed son Blake Silas Sweeney on January 10. Jessica was also promoted to lead counselor of the Taghi Modarressi Center for Infant Study: Secure Starts Program at the Univ. of Maryland, Baltimore where she has worked for the last nine years. Thomas Dasch, Jr. was promoted to Clinical Administrator at the Frederick Institute where he has worked for 10 years. Thomas also became an entrepreneur and started his own organic beard oil business, National Beard Company. Thomas and Melissa Janovic Dasch, M.A.’10 had their second child, Emit Thomas Dasch, on April 4, 2014 and are expecting their third child, a boy, September 2015. Chanda Gilmore welcomed her third daughter, Shelia Elizabeth Nandi Faith, on January 1, 2015 with her life partner, Arthur Kirksey. The couple recently purchased their first home in Delaware where Chanda is a doctoral candidate at Wilmington Univ. Sandra Delaney, M.B.A.’13 and fiancé Richard Horn will get married on June 5, 2015. Their daughter Chloe will turn 3 on May 26, 2015. Sarrah Kiermayr Yoder and husband Joel welcomed Noah Eron Yoder on April 19, 2015. Noah joins big sister Micah in the Yoder home. Wendy Cochran Taylor has worked as food control program manager at the Frederick County Health Department since 2011. Sara Lewis was recently honored for outstanding achievements in public policy by PLEN (Public Leadership Educational Network) at its 35th Anniversary Celebration.

    It was wonderful for the class of 2004 members who were able to attend the 2014 Hood reunion this summer. Class reporters, Chanda Gilmore and Michelle Donati-Grayman were honored with the 2014 Outstanding Recent Alumna Award for their professional accomplishments during a special luncheon at the reunion. A special congratulations to Jennifer Smith Miller and her husband on the birth of their daughter Zuri Elizabeth April 23. Congratulations to Maya Laws on her marriage to Justin Barney July 11. Congratulations to Susan Nasr on graduating from the Univ. of Rochester Medical School in May and her marriage to Dr. Alexandre Tchekhovskoi, also in May. They now live in Oakland, Calif., and she is completing her residency at Alameda County Medical Center. Classmates Sara Lewis and Kitty Chotoo were in attendance for both events. Congratulations to Sara Lewis and her family on purchasing a new home in Montclair, N.J., in March 2013. Sara is currently coordinating a Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration grant, Project LAUNCH as part of the Essex Pregnancy and Parenting Connection. Essence Jones, M.A. ’07, C’07 is now the quality assurance manager and hospital liaison for Contemporary Family Services, Inc. Lauren Davies Rosario has a new job as senior marketing analyst at PAR, a psychological assessment developer and publisher. Elizabeth Waggoner Miller and family are now stationed at Yokosuka Naval Base in Yokosuka, Kanagawa, Japan for the next three years.

    Do not forget 2004 alums that our reunion will be this summer 2014! I hope to see many of you there so we can brag face-to-face about our accomplishments. In the meantime, Elizabeth Waggoner Miller and family will be relocating to Yokosuka, Japan in February 2014 for three years. Anyone who decides to visit Tokyo or the surrounding area, be sure to give her call or Facebook her. Sally Downing Taylor and family are still residing in England where she makes wonderful cakes for her many clients. Congratulations to Laurie Machovec and Rob Tomcanin who were married in November 2013. Laurie also received her masters of education degree in Reading with a reading specialist certification from Goucher College in the summer 2013. Congratulations to Chanda Gilmore on her engagement to Arthur Kirksey.

I encourage all of you to email me at chandagilmore@gmail.com or Facebook me if you want me to update my email list. Welcome back John McCutcheon after a nine-month deployment in Afghanistan. John is currently stationed at Fort Stewart in Georgia as an infantryman in the U.S. Army. Congratulations to the following second-time mommies and new mommies: Rachel Krieger Murphy and husband Jason welcomed their second daughter Hannah in May 2012. Hannah joins big sister Kaitlyn born in 2010. After seven years of teaching, Rachel is now a stay-at-home mommy and loves every minute of it!

    Sara Lewis and her husband welcomed their second son Eamon on July 18, 2012. Uyen Vu Phillips, M.S. ’10 welcomed son Lucas Jack Phillips in March 2012. The happy family resides in Nashville, Tenn. Sarrah Kiermayr Yoder and husband Joel welcomed their first child Micah Gracelyn on March 27, 2012. Katie Nash, MBA ’08 was promoted to project coordinator at GRSi, a government services firm in Frederick. She also serves as the management services representative for its ISO 9001 certification and is pursuing her project manager certification. Katie will announce her candidacy for City of Frederick alderman in January 2013. Volunteers can email Katie at katiejonash@gmail.com.

    Melanie Muscar, MBA ’07 was commissioned as an officer in the Medical Service Corps of the U.S. Navy Reserves in September 2012. She serves as a health care administrator at an operational support unit in Bethesda, Md. Juliane Bettina Husemann currently works at a major film production company in Munich, Germany.
